Terms of Service

Last updated: 7 September 2026 · Applies to use of the KAPWA Connection website

1. Acceptance of terms

By browsing this website you agree to these terms. If you go on to purchase a membership, the Membership Agreement also applies and takes precedence for anything it covers.

2. What this service is for

KAPWA Connection is a service for finding connection of whatever kind you are looking for: friendship, companionship, someone to talk to, people to network with in your field, a group or community to belong to, someone to share an activity with, or a romantic or long-term relationship. All of these are equally what the service is for, and every membership package applies to all of them in the same way. Online membership is open to adults in every country; one-on-one matchmaking and mentoring is currently offered to clients in New Zealand and the Philippines.

3. Website use

You agree not to use this website to submit false information, impersonate another person, scrape or copy content, or attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours.

4. Intellectual property

The KAPWA Connection name, logo, and website content are owned by KAPWA Connection Limited and may not be reproduced without permission.

5. About KAPWA Connection Limited

KAPWA Connection Limited is the New Zealand company that operates this website and provides the KAPWA Connection services described here. Official company information is available through the New Zealand Companies Register.

6. Prices shown on this website

Prices on this website are in New Zealand dollars and include GST. Online membership packages are charged weekly, with no minimum term, at the price shown for that package, and the same prices apply to members in every country. There are six of them, and these are the whole list:

Liking and matching are unlimited on all six, including the free Trial. Allowances count the number of different members you contact in an allowance week, not the number of messages you send. The allowance week begins at midnight UTC on Monday and unused allowance does not carry over to the next one. Additional messaging may be bought at any time on any active membership, the free Trial included: NZ$5 for 2 more members in your own country, or NZ$10 for 5 more international members. Both are available whatever package you are on, including one whose weekly allowance covers your own country only; the exception is VIP, whose conversations are unlimited already. These are one-off purchases, paid by card at checkout, and are added to your allowance as soon as the payment is confirmed; they are not a subscription and nothing renews. On a weekly package additional messaging expires when the allowance week it was bought in ends; on the free Trial it does not expire. It is not refundable once used. The Membership Agreement sets out these terms in full.

One-on-one matchmaking and mentoring prices are one-time fees for the package described. Every amount is shown again at checkout before you pay. Prices may change, and the price that applies to you is the one shown at the time you purchase.

6a. Safety warnings on messages

Message text on this website is checked automatically for the wording used in money scams, and where it appears a warning is shown to both members in the conversation. The check runs as a conversation is displayed, stores nothing about the messages it reads, and never prevents a message from being sent or received. It is an aid to your own judgement and not a guarantee of anyone's honesty: it will not identify every scam and it will sometimes warn about an ordinary conversation. KAPWA Connection will never ask you for money outside the checkout on this website, and never for a verification code. Money sent to another member is sent at your own risk and cannot be recovered by us.

6b. Thumbs ups, points and earned messages

Every profile can be responded to in three ways: pass, like, or thumbs up. A thumbs up means "I am not what you are looking for, but I think well of you". It is not a like and it does not create a match, so a thumbs up on its own never opens a conversation between two members.

Points exist only to be earned from thumbs ups you receive. One thumbs up you receive is one point, and points are counted from the thumbs ups themselves rather than kept as a separate balance. Giving a thumbs up earns you nothing. Points cannot be bought, sold, transferred to another member, exchanged for money, or refunded, and they have no cash value.

Every 15 points earns one free message: the ability to start a conversation with one member you have matched with, without it counting against your weekly allowance. A free message is offered to you, never spent automatically, and you choose the member and the moment. Once a free message has been used it is gone and cannot be reused or restored; earning the next one takes another 15 points. You are told inside your chats when you have qualified for one.

An earned free message adds a conversation to your allowance. It does not replace membership: you need an active membership package or Trial to send messages at all, and a free message cannot be used while your membership is inactive, paused or closed. Unused free messages are not refundable and are lost if your account is closed. We may withhold or cancel points and earned messages obtained through duplicate accounts or any other attempt to manufacture thumbs ups.

6c. Group chats, group calls and group video

Group chats, group voice calls and group video calls are included with the Gold, Platinum and VIP packages, and the number of members a group holds depends on the package. Only members you have already matched with can be added to a group. You add one by typing their name into the search box in the group panel: the search looks only at your own matches, so nobody who has not already matched with you can be found there or added. A matched member you add joins the group immediately.

Anyone in a group can read everything said in it from the moment they join, and anyone can leave a group at any time. Group calls are limited to 8 people at once for technical reasons. Blocking a member prevents either of you from adding the other to a group.

7. No professional advice

Nothing on this website is relationship, legal, or financial advice. It describes our services only.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, KAPWA Connection is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this website. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any right you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986 that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be available at this page.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
